So I was doing that thinking thing...
...bad for me I know but anyway;

LJ's been a bit sporadic lately and we lack somewhere a little more... forum-y. It'd help a lot for leaving memos/notes/todos/communications outside the game, discussing stuff about it, etc.

Thoughts from players/other gods/etc.?

I recall Keetah mentioning a forum at some point. It was mostly for players to simply post bios and suggest player-run RP sessions. However, this sort of thing wouldn't really make sense unless there was reasonable player base.

However, the obvious side effect is that gods can also post ideas, plans, update news, and polls in a more central location.

I've had experience with phpBB 2 years ago. It was a mess but at least it was functional. Any other suggestions would be nice. All we really need is something with reasonably easy visual modification and the ability to make a few basic forum categories.

Yeah, the problem is I'm often coming away with a bunch of ideas that are hard to communicate over LJ and ingame/IMs.

phpBB3 or SMF are probably our best bets. I have administration experience with the former so I can get the forums, usergroups, categories and such set up easily enough if I have admin access there. I doubt SMF is much harder to administrate.

I think I'll be going with phpBB. It looks like quite a bit has changed from version 2. Plus I'm hoping that since it is older it'll probably be more secure.

I'll probably do the basic installation sometime in the next week and then hand over the admin access to you for setting up the actual forums. I've got enough on my plate without having to screw around with this kinda of stuff again XD Sound ok?

At some point I will probably work with Keetah to integrate some of the Stellarmass site-design elements into the forum.

Sounds like a plan to me. I have a decent idea of the forums we'll need already*, so it should only take me maybe half an hour tops to get them and the groups set up once I have access.
